About the FA 22 Class

This website was created as part of a class project at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. The class is Islamic Empires: Podcasting the Ottomans, (HIST 314), and is taught by Dr. Betül Başaran.

Ashlie H.

I’m a senior at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. I’m majoring in religious studies and art. I’m a Wiccan Adept at the Circle of the Silver Raven, where I teach classes. I’m actively pursuing ordination as a high priestess. I’m also a Ceremonial Magick practitioner and a Chaote.

Mal C.

I am a history major at St. Mary’s College of Maryland who enjoys ancient history. I specifically find my niche in human interaction and experiences. I am an artist and dad to four cats, 3 rabbits, and 2 dogs.

Emma B.

I am a junior at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. I am in Dance Club, and I enjoy crocheting and art. I have a kitten named Siloh, who I rescued this October. I am interested in nineteenth century history, especially the history of Spiritualism and occult practices during the Industrial Revolution.

Morgan H.

I am a senior at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where I am a history major. I am generally interested in all areas of history, but I especially like African American history and Latin American history. I also enjoy scrapbooking and reading.

Faith H.

I am a junior at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. I am a history major, a member of the history honor society Phi Alpha Theta, and I work in the library on campus. After graduation I intend to pursue a Master of Library and Information Science as well as a Master’s in History.

Sarah P.

I am an aspiring St. Mary’s College of Maryland graduate with hopes of pursuing a career in Title IX services. I am majoring in history, with a focus on Latin America, both pre and post-colonial eras. Additionally, I am minoring in anthropology and WWGS (Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies). I dabble in jewelry making, integrating ethically sourced organic material to create eclectic pieces.

Malik H.

I’m a junior at St. Mary’s College. While I’m a computer science major, I also love learning about history, especially Islamic and African History. One of my favorite hobbies is digital art.

Dylan M.

I am an uber-senior at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where I major in psychology. Though I do not minor in the subject, I have much experience with history courses. and am predominately interested in Mediterranean history. I do not own a picture of my face.
